The streets may be empty or they may be crawling with thugs that you can either confront or avoid by soaring from building top to building top.
Really stretch your wings and glide for hundreds of meters with the decaying urban environment below you. The combat in this game is much better. You get smoke pellets, which would have been handle in Asylum, and they allow you to hide from gun-toting goons. New weapons are at your disposal as well. You'll face many new challenges and face off against many more villains from Mr. Freeze to the Penguin, and of course the Joker. You also get to play as Catwoman, which is fun. She brings her own strengths and weaknesses and playing as her is a whole new challenge.
Probably the only downside is that with all the side missions, it is easy to lose track of what you are supposed to be doing. For instance when you must find the hostages held captive by the Riddler, you might have a hard time figuring out exactly what to look for as the map feature is little help. So you might end up wandering around for a while until you decide to just give up and go do something else.
Maybe its just me, but that was the only negative thing I could think of. Overall, this game is awesome. You truly get to play as Batman like never before. Farnsworth Top Contributor: Board Games. A bit scripted but fun. This game was an excellent buy. It's not my favorite game of all time, but now that it is a couple of years old you can have it for a song and it was quite fun to play. I'm not quite done with it but I'm near the end of the main quest. Much of the game you spend swinging from one place to another on the grappling hook.
It's much faster than walking and utterly necessary in many cases, especially for combat. It's very much a stealth game because a couple of shots will take you down. Not that you sneak around on ground level a lot, typically, but you are always looking get on elevated ground or the rafters and jump down on people.
It almost feels like I would imagine a spiderman game would be. The combat took a bit to get used to. You can tell this game was made for consoles because the computer does all of the work. You just basically point in the right direction and click and it fills in all sorts of ninja moves. That's probably the worst thing about the game: it was designed for the very limited amount of control the various consoles give you, so on a PC you end up just hitting space bar over and over for lots of different types of actions opening doors, jumping, climbing, etc.
All space bar. On a PC you have much more ability to control and way more buttons at your disposal. I guess if they had made a different button for everything, it would be too easy on a PC and they would have to rework the whole game. This is why consoles are a bad thing The atmosphere of the game is fun. Very batman-like.
I think they did a good job of engaging you in the story and making you feel like you really are batman. It's consistent with the Christian Bale batman movie feel. Good stuff. Graphics are pretty decent. Like I said, It's clearly an adaptation of a console game, but it's a good one. It doesn't seem to be a particularly large game.
The main quest isn't all that long. It's not like something like, say, Skyrim, where you spend hours just learning a blacksmith skill. Here you just play through the various quests.
There are little trophies you can get, but they don't mean much. You don't really have to earn gear or skills to speak of. The story is pretty reasonable. The game feels quite scripted, though. In every situation there seems to be exactly one way to get through. Sometimes it's a puzzle to figure it out, but there's always just one solution. Not a lot of freedom on your part. I guess that makes it easier to tell a coherent story.
